Just a Little Something to Get Started

I have always been extremely bad at keeping up with journals.  I guess I have to go back to get to where I am now. Jewelry has always been a passion of mine, so it seems like a good place to start. I have been making one form or jewelry or another for almost 30 years. The first time I remember really having a good time making jewelry was at my swimming lessons day camp at Sandy Bottoms Beach on Honeoye Lake in the Fingerlakes of western New York. Everyday we had a craft project and the only craft I ever remember making was Macramé necklaces. A few years later the friendship bracelets made with embroidery floss were very popular and I started a little business on the school bus taking orders and making bracelets on the bus to and from school. I would make I think $2 or $3 per bracelet. I think that I was 13 or 14 at the time and it felt so cool to have my own little business, and it probably didn’t last for very long, but that was the first time I realized that I could make money making jewelry. It has been on my mind ever since.

Not the most exciting way to start a blog, but a girl has to start somewhere!
