Thankful Thursday

My E Nut has been home sick all week. Yesterday we had him at the doctors and he has strep. He has only had a red, sore throat, and has not really been acting too sick ,and has not had a fever, but I kept him home anyways. This week I am realizing that I very easily could have homeschooled both of my older children. It is interesting to see how differently they act during the school week. On weekends, when the schedule is so much more relaxed for them, the kids run around like little beasties – and spend a great deal of that time driving me batty. During this week when everything has been run with a good schedule, my house has been so quiet.

Wing Nut and I breezed through his homeschool lessons, and got caught up in a few places where we were behind. I am so Thankful for that! I was starting to think that I was not cut out to do homeschooling. When we didn’t have to leave the house several times a day to pick up and drop off his brother, we got to work first thing in the morning, and without the distraction of leaving in the afternoon we were able to stay on track. I stopped by the school to get E Nut’s schoolwork, and homework for the week, and we have been working with the 2 older kids doing homeschool, and so far it is going great. I am so Thankful for that!

Wee Nut had his 18 month check up yesterday. He is growing beautifully! I am so Thankful for that! I don’t think I ever mentioned that he started walking last month. One day he just decided it was time to walk, within just a few days he was a professional walker. He is still not much of a talker, but he is picking up new words everyday. So while he is still developmentally behind in many ways, he is taking huge leaps when he does reach milestones. As long as he is continuing to grow, and move forward, I don’t really care how fast he does it. When he ended up in the NICU, I was not sure he would survive, now 18 months later, he is doing famously, and follows his brothers around all day. I am so very Thankful for positive check ups, and my growing Heart Baby! The only concerning thing about yesterday’s appointment was that his O2 sats have dropped from 82-84 to 80-82, so it looks like his is dropping about 2 percent every 3 months or so.

I am Thankful that I can see the end of the mounds of clothes for the change of seasons. My children have far too many clothes – I guess it is because some of the clothes that Wee Nut is wearing have already gone through 3 brothers, and have been in our family for the past 8 years. There were times that I thought I just was not going to be able to get rid of certain outfits, now that I don’t need them anymore I am happy to let them go! I am so Thankful for clothes that I am never going to have to look at again, never have to pack into a box again, and never have to wash again! I  do not even know how begin to describe how awesome it feels. Not to mention the huge tax deduction I am going to get on next year’s taxes from all the clothes that I am giving away.

I am Thankful that as of yesterday 5 members of our family have had the H1N1 vaccine, and I can rest a little easier knowing that my little Wee Nut is protected. My kid’s doctor had to hold my hand while I got my shot – after giving birth to 5 kids I still don’t do well with needles, I am a bit of a baby like that.

She Nut has suddenly decided that she no longer wants to sleep through the night – so I am very Thankful for coffee!

And bite sized Halloween candy.

And that The NY Yankees won the World Series! I Love NY!

I am Thankful for everyone who joined me last week in sharing your Thankful Thoughts, last week I had the most participation ever! Thank You.

As always, I am Thankful for my happy, healthy, wild little beasties that run around my house all day long driving me crazy, I am Thankful that we have a roof over our heads and for our wonderfully supportive group of friends and family and all the ways they help us.

So what are you Thankful for today? It is so easy to join in and tell everyone.

Here is how Thankful Thursdays works:

Somewhere in your post please mention The Nut House and http://ourhappynuthouse.com/ so that your friends, family and visitors know where to find other Thankful Thoughts. You can also grab my Thankful Thursdays banner and link to that. Once you have done that you can come back here and add your post to MckLinky.

Not everyone has a blog, so:

2. If you don’t have a blog, you can leave a Thankful Thoughts comment in the comment section.

3. You can show your Thankful Thoughts any way you like, as a list, as a story, as one word, one sentence or just a picture. Have fun!
