Five Question Friday

Five Question Friday is hosted by Mama M over at My Little Life. Every week she takes suggestions from her readers and comes up with Five Questions to share, and ask others to share their answers too. It always looks like so much fun, so this week I thought I would join in.

So here is my first ever Five Questions Friday.

1. Are you a Black Friday shopper?

Nope, not a fan of Black Friday. I love the Holiday season, but on Black Friday morning, I will be lounging around my house, eating leftover turkey dinner for breakfast and chill’n out with The Nuts. There is nothing at any of the stores that I can’t get for a great deal on any other day of the year. Black Friday marketing is wasted on this family.

2. What was your favorite childhood toy? (Think Easy Bake Oven, Cabbage Patch Kid, Shrinky Dinks, etc.)

I don’t know if I could narrow it down to just one toy. I sure loved my Easy Bake Oven – do you think it would be jumping the gun if I got my She Nut one for Christmas – I mean, is 5 months too early to learn how to cook tiny cakes? Yeah, probably too early. I used to sit up in my bedroom, and watch the little light bulb as it baked tiny little cakes and brownies. Then I would eat them up, and make another. There was never enough little packets of powdery goodness. Before I fell in love with the Easy Bake Oven, I loved my little Kitchen Set. My dad still tells the story of how he stayed up all night long putting in hundreds of tiny little screws. This was before molded plastic kitchen sets that you just pull out of the box, and pop together. This was also before every household had several types of electric screwdrivers. I think he was up until something like 4am. I also think that this might have been the same Christmas that my brother and I got up before my parents did and opened all of our presents – not sure though. All I do know is that I loved that little kitchen set and I will think of it when I buy my baby girl a kitchen set of her own, complete with an Easy Bake Oven. I already have plans of making little containers of powdery goodness for She Nut to cook up out of bigger boxes of cake and brownie mix.

3. Favorite Christmas movie?

I love A Christmas Story, and I love that my kids love it too! The Polar Express is becoming a family favorite as well.

4. What is the “must have” item on your Christmas list this year?

I have had a pasta maker on my must have list for a while. I thought I was going to get it for my birthday, but it got bumped for an ice cream maker. I would love it if we could finish our addition by Christmas so we could move the kids into their new room.

5. Do you go all out with decorations or do you keep it simple and classy?

It all depends on how much time we have, and the space. We decorate the dining room, which happens to be the only room big enough for a Christmas tree, and we put up lights outside. We go out the Saturday after Thanksgiving to cut down a tree, and then spend the weekend decorating the tree, drinking spiced cider, and snacking on all sorts goodies. I have big dreams for Someday, but for now I am just thankful that we get the tree up.

That was fun! So now it is your turn, hop on over to My Little Life and see what others have to say and then join in the fun.
