Thankful Thursday

This has been an interesting week!

This past weekend was spent priming the bedrooms in our addition to get ready to paint. Very exciting! I am so Thankful that we have gotten to the point where we can start to paint. That means we are one step closer to tearing down the wall in the back of the house and moving in. We got a couple of really great deals for the addition too. I went to Lowes, which sometimes can be a bad thing. I found some nice, hickory laminate that was clearanced. One thing I learned about Lowes is that if you ask for a manager, and ask for more of a discount on clearance items, most likely you are going to get it. I walked out of Lowes with 40 boxes of beautiful laminate, and saved over $400 off of the already clearanced price! That is not just awesome, it is beyond awesome, in fact it is beawesome! I suppose the down side of all of this is that while I have it in my possession after flashing the credit card at the cashier, I don’t actually have any way to pay for it. But hey, live wild and be free, right?

Continuing with the addition, I learned that Home Depot was having a sale on paint. So I decided to live dangerously again, and with the last of the Christmas cash I went off to the Homey. Things could have gotten out of hand very quickly – this time of year is clearance time at the Home Improvement stores, and walking out of one of those places without a major purchase is about as hard for me as walking out of the grocery store without groceries. I managed to get out alive, even after wandering around the bathroom section looking at tubs, and vanities. In the end, I got some ceiling paint, primer, and colors for all 4 bedrooms. I walked away with $370 worth of paint for $180!! Actually paid $260 for it all, but have $80 worth of rebates to fill out, and send in. My big project for the weekend is filling out the rebates, and getting them in the mail. I love getting deals like this, I am so Thankful for great deals on paint.

We will also be finishing up priming the kids bedrooms upstairs this weekend too. I am just so excited I could burst!

I also have some interesting and baffling news about Wee Nut. Something very strange has happened this week and I am not quite sure how to explain it. That news belongs with the long awaited peds cardiology appointment update. I want to feel really excited about it, but since I can’t quite figure it out, I am just trying to wait it out and see what happens. Of course, that post will take a bit more time than I have right now, so you will have to wait for it. Sorry.

I am Thankful to SunTrust Bank, Stellar One Bank, Woodbridge Bank (a bank at Walmart) and my children’s pediatrician who have all allowed to let me leave Congenital Heart Defects Awareness Week brochures that I got from the Congenital Heart Information Network. My kid’s pediatrician has a stack of stickers and Stellar One asked for a bunch of stickers to hand out to kids whos parents would prefer they not have lollipops. I am so Thankful that my community is helping me to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Defects. The deadline is getting close, but if you want to order stickers from CHIN they are free.

As always, I am Thankful for my happy, healthy, wild little beasties that run around my house all day long driving me crazy, I am Thankful that we have a roof over our heads and for our wonderfully supportive group of friends and family and all the ways they help us.

So what are you Thankful for today? It is so easy to join in and tell everyone.

Here is how Thankful Thursdays works:

1. Post your Thankful Thoughts on your blog. Somewhere in your post please mention The Nut House and ourhappynuthouse.com/ so that your friends, family and visitors know where to find other Thankful Thoughts. You can also grab my Thankful Thursdays banner and link to that. Once you have done that you can come back here and add your post to MckLinky.

Not everyone has a blog, so:

2. If you don’t have a blog, you can leave a Thankful Thoughts comment in the comment section.

3. You can show your Thankful Thoughts any way you like, as a list, as a story, as one word, one sentence or just a picture. Have fun!
