I Finally Moved to WordPress

So here is the new home for The Nut House! After weeks of messing with code and turning my brain into mush, I think I have everything in place. I just hope I don’t screw it up (again!) and have to start over (again!)

I have a few changes, like some new colors, and a fun drop down navigation bar. I had to get Google Friend connect and my followers don’t transfer from my old blogger platform, so you will have to sign up again.

So what do you think? Is it as cool as I feel like it is? After staring at this thing for the past few weeks and moving everything around, sometimes pixel by pixel, I am not sure if it actually looks OK, or I am just sick of messing around with it, lol.

I finally got to check out your new site. You did a great job! I am very impressed. It looks great. If you need help with certain tricks I use a book called WordPress for Dummies. It really helps. 🙂

Thanks! It was soooo big, almost too big for me, but once I got the hang of it, it all kind of clicked…well, most of it clicked, I am still trying to figure out the rest lol.

I think it looks great! I am desperately trying to get my blog straightened out and am having so many issues with my domain name and more 🙂 If you don’t mind me asking did someone help you with the move or did you do everything yourself? If someone did help you who was it…..I need some help 🙂

      Thanks Daphne!

I did it myself. I bought the domain name from myhosting.com, and then through that I was able to download wordpress to my server. My hosting as a wordpress application that is really easy to figure out. I picked a wordpress theme and edited that. I imported all of my posts from blogger. Then I had to go back into some of the old posts that had links to my old blogspot address and change them to my new address. The hardest part was trying to figure out how to edit the wordpress theme, it is not nearly as easy to edit as blogger, especially after working with blogger for so long it was hard for me to turn off my blogger brain and see what I was looking at, lol.

Who did you get your domain name from? Are you trying to switch to wordpress, or just get things worked out with blogger?

Well, you did a great job doing it by yourself 🙂

I **thought** I purchased my domain name through Blogger but for days now it has shown that it is redirecting to my new site but it doesn’t do it. I’ve put in a request for help on the help forum but I haven’t heard anything yet. One of my computer friends said that I need to have Blogger reassign or move (??) my dns info. This is greek to me 🙂

I think I would like to go to wordpress but not 100% sure yet. Sometimes I think if I’m going to do it then I should do it now.

I saw you mention that on blogfrog, that must be so annoying! I say now is the time to switch to wordpress…I mean as long as you are struggling anyways you might as well go somewhere else, lol.

The main reason I switched to wordpress is so that I actually own my blog, even it your own personal domain name on blogger, they still own the website and you are at their mercy. Just my 2 cents.

good luck with getting things worked out!

WordPress is a great choice. I love WordPress.

I never saw your blogger blog so I can’t compare but I think this one looks good. On my screen I do have the scrollbar at the bottom though.
