Homeschool Room Makeover Chalkboard Paint and the Finished Room

While we were working on the Homeschool Room remodel, my neighbor came over to ask if we wanted an old desk. Of course we did!! It turns out that the school that my kids used to go to were going to throw it away and my neighbor just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Lucky for us!

Here in the top drawer I have pencils, colored pencils, scissors, erasers, more markers, tape, dry erase markers, history DVDs and some bags of different cards that were cut out of workbooks and used for lessons.

This drawer is for my teachers guides and teachers editions, E Nut’s language Arts books and worksheets, Little Nut Nut’s worksheets, and folders of my printouts that I have used and will be using again in the future along with a bunch of reward stickers and certificates 🙂

Wee Nut stopped by for a photo op and requested a water sippie for Honey Nut and himself. I love my little Owee!

E Nut gets to sit at the desk over here most of the time. He is hard at work on his math lesson. We picked up the chair at Target last month.

Wall Nut’s stepfather, Poppy Nut made this desk for Wing Nut. It used to sit on the rails of his top bunk before it had legs to give him space for his Legos and for a place to get away from the younger Nuts to play with is big kid toys. After the Nuts moved upstairs into their new bedrooms, Poppy Nut added the legs and the glass cover. This is Wing Nut’s desk space and shared computer space. When it it time for the other Nuts to use the computer, Wing Nut moves over to the other desk or to the coffee table.

At the coffee table, Wing Nut does his artwork and Little Nut Nut also sits here to do his Pre-K lessons. The futon love seat in the back folds out into the guest bed and the Classroom gets turned into the guest room when family comes to visit.

The lesson board and wireless printer also sit on E Nut’s desk.

The bookshelf is divided by reading level. I still need to get a bin for the board books at the bottom for when the babies are in the room. The next shelf up is for the last of our coloring books, printable coloring pages, crayons and Highlights, High-Five, National Geographic Kids and Boy’s Life magazines.

The next level up is for beginning and early reader books and the level above that is for story books for older kids.

The top level of the bookshelf is for young reader books and some of not currently used curriculums. On top of all that are some Pre-K games that I get to play with Little Nut Nut along with some more paint supplies and more of my teacher supplies that need to be up, up and away. This photo also shows the top shelf of the closet, which is not done yet, but so far tossed up there are not currently used curriculums, play dough, music instruments, more games and more Leapster learning system.

So that is it, all of our Homeschool Room Makeover. If  you haven’t seen them yet, there are 3 posts before this one that show our Homeschool Room Makeover from the very beginning. What do you think? I would love to see how you have your Homeschool space set up! Enter your link in to MckLinky below and share your Homeschool Space 🙂 The MckLinky will be up through this weekend.

Organizing teaching supplies takes time and patience. I was at a friend’s house tonight and loved the way she used coffee table trays to separate her kids home school papers. I hope I can get motivated to start working on my organizational projects.

Cara, we also have lap-desks with beanbag type padding on the bottom of them that they can use if they want to sit on the couch or go outside to do their lessons 🙂 Now That I am organized, homeschool is so much easier and fun for us!

Wow, what a great space to work in. Want to come over and organize my house when you get done. 🙂 That desk is great. It is amazing what schools throw away.

I just found your blog tonight…and I’m so inspired! I don’t have kids yet, but my husband and I are already considering homeschooling. You obviously do a fantastic job with your young ones. Thank you for sharing your classroom with us!

Looks really good. I am not sure we will be finished with our schoolroom makeover by the end of the weekend. If we are, I will link up. Have a blessed school year!
