E Nut Lost His First Tooth – How to Make a Tooth Fairy Box

This little boy has been telling me for years that he has had a loose tooth. He has wished so hard that his tooth was loose, and that he would lose a tooth and get to make is Tooth Fairy box to start earning some cold hard Tooth Fairy cash. One of his teeth has been loose for the past couple of weeks. It was funny, when he actually had a loose tooth, he didn’t really want to touch it. Tonight at dinner his tooth was so loose that he couldn’t even eat. So we told him to pull it out, and then he would get a visit from The Tooth Fairy tonight. He wiggled it around a bit, tried to eat on one side for a bit and wiggled it around some more. I don’t think he was expecting it to hurt quite as much as it did, and he really didn’t know what to do. He asked if he could make a box for his tooth tonight if he lost it before bedtime, as soon as I said Yes, he grabbed his tooth and pulled it out, Hahaha! He was so proud, and excited. After he gobbled up the last of his dinner, we got to work making a Tooth Fairy Box. We made one 4 years ago when his big brother lost his first tooth and E Nut has been waiting very impatiently since then to make his own.

I will show you how we make Tooth Fairy Boxes at The Nut House, and you can make one for your kids too!

Excited to show off his new smile 🙂
The scene of the missing tooth.
The joy and excitement of growing up. (sob, sigh, sob)
We use 1 piece of construction paper, glue, scissors, a ruler, some puffy stars, glitter, and an old check box. The glitter, and stars are to attract fairies, they can’t resist something so fun, and glittery.
Center the top of the box on the construction paper and trace the box. Then use a ruler to extent the lines of each side of the box to the edge of the paper.
Cut off the 4 corners labeled with an X and keep everything else labeled with a K for keep!
Labeling everything is a great way to make sure the kids know what to cut off, and still be able to do it themselves without cutting off the wrong part.
This is the shape you are left with after cutting off the corners.
Fold the edges up over the top of the box to set guides.
Cover the construction paper with glue.
Set the box top on the paper.
Wrap the paper around the box top and fold the edges around to the inside.
With glue, write My Tooth Box, along with some fun designs like swirls and star bursts. Then sprinkle glitter over it.
Sprinkle more glitter!
Glue some puffy stars around the edge of the box and tap off the extra glitter.
Wing Nut made his box pink because he thought that since the Tooth Fairy was a girl that she would like pink. Seems reasonable to me. My 2 big boys and their Tooth Fairy Boxes!
