Take it On Tuesday!

I had a bit of a set back for a few days with the weirdest bug I think I have ever had. Me and the little Nuts got a bug of sorts that drained us of all energy and coherent thought, without a fever or anything else. We all spent 2-3 days exhausted beyond belief and spent all day long eating and never getting full. Little Nut Nut fell asleep while I was getting dinner ready on Sunday night, got up with me around 6:30 Monday morning, laid down with me on the couch and immediately fell back asleep again until 1:30 in the afternoon. Honey Nut spent about 6 hours in her high chair eating and falling asleep. Every time she woke up, I tried to get her out of her chair and she insisted on eating again and then falling back asleep. Wee Nut spent the day in and out of his high chair eating and following it up with naps all over the house, falling asleep where ever he happened to tire out. I spend the rest of the day feeding big brothers, eating when they all gave me a chance and trying to lay down for more than 2 minutes at at time. We all seem to have more energy today and slowly recovering, I even managed to do some baking and made over 100 mini corn muffins. Some for now, but most for the freezer. Yummers!

It was the easiest sickness that we have ever had and in general it wasn’t too much trouble.

Aside from that setback, I feel like I am making some serious progress in getting The Nut House organized and ready for the Holidays.

They always say that if you put something away and you don’t use it, wear it or even think about it for 6 months, it is time to get rid of it. I wonder what they say about boxes and boxes of things that have been in stashed around the house for over 2 years while you finish up a home addition? I think they would say toss it or give it to the thrift store! I have been accumulating several boxes and garbage bags of all sorts of things that I have been dropping of at the thrift store for weeks. And filling several garbage bags full of actual garbage a week as well.

It also doesn’t hurt that now as Wee Nut is outgrowing clothes that I can get rid of them and not have to hold on to them for the next one. Honey Nut wears some of the same clothes as her big brothers, but not too many. Mostly pants and pjs, but for the most part Wee Nut is quickly outgrowing tons of clothes and I am happy to get rid of them.

I spent several hours with the big kids cleaning their rooms with them and going through every last bin of toys and getting rid of a couple of paper grocery bags of toys. The easiest time of the year to get the kids to give up their old toys is right before Christmas when they have to make room for new ones.

This week I am still working on my new studio/office space. I actually got to spend a few hours in there organizing and filing things that needed to be filed and tossing things that no longer need to be filed. I figure that I will be working on getting our Taxes done starting the beginning of January, so I might as well get a jump on that as long as I am in there cleaning up.

I reorganized my pantry/laundry room and some of my kitchen. That took a few hours and I think with a few more I can actually get it done. The nicest part about that will be that I will be getting my space back in the laundry room for folding clothes and I don’t have to drag the clothes all over the house to find a place to fold them and hope the kids don’t toss them about…because for some reason, running around the house with handfuls of once folded clothes swinging them around your head while letting out a war cry is about one of the most exciting things a young child can do. Fabulous.

We are putting the tree up on Friday and hopefully getting it decorated on Saturday and Sunday. It is hard to think about getting ready for Christmas when we have had 70ish degree days, but we are starting to get excited!

I have it in my head that I need to rearrange the furniture in the house…I don’t know how that will go. Do you ever get the feeling like you need to make big changes in your home? While doing all of this organizing and deep cleaning I am feeling like now is the time to make some fun changes to the house. Ideas like that usually end up in some sort of home remodeling project, but I think we have had enough of that for at least another 6 months! And at that point we will be working on finishing up the projects that we have started.

So I am still working on the same projects that I have been chipping away at for weeks, but I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The next couple of weeks is going to be flying by while we get ready for my family to come visit for Christmas. It will all be done soon enough and before I know it we will all be hanging out enjoying the Holidays!

What projects are you working on this week? Are you putting your tree up this weekend?

Tomorrow is laying on the couch supervising the girls while they do the prep for Thursdays meal.

Thursday is laying on the couch supervising the girls while they cook Thanksgiving dinner.

Friday is laying on the couch supervising the girls while they put up the tree.

Are you beginning to see a pattern here? I will be glad when I have the energy to do things for myself, but I am equally glad that my girls are home and that I have trained them to do so many things.

    Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

I know you are ready to get up off the couch, but it sounds like you have it made for the next couple of days, lol! That is great that your girls can help you out 🙂
