You Ask, I Answer

A few weeks ago, I told y’all to ask me anything and I would answer it…within reason of course. I was hoping to get a few more questions before I posted this, but it seems like I am enough of an open book that there are not too many questions. So this should be easy enough!

Tricia from A Bit More Than a Journal has a few questions

Why do you homeschool?

There are many reasons why I homeschool. The simplest reason is that it just works for our family. There are many complicated reasons that involve ADHD and many simple reasons that include, because from the moment I knew I was pregnant with my first born, I knew I wanted to homeschool my kids.

What makes you smile?

My children,  and my family. Large snowflakes, sudden burst of hard rain on a sunny day, belly dancing, skiing(both water and snow), remembering running around in my front yard in my Spider Woman Underroos with my brother and neighborhood kids, and the hours upon hours I spent with my brother growing up playing Atari and getting the original Nintendo video game system for Christma,s and how my brother and I chanted Nintendo, Nintendo with excitement. I smile the most when I watch my children create memories that will make them smile when they are grown with their own families.

When you are down, what makes life worth living?

That is easy, my family!

Do you want more kids?

I would love more kids, I would love to have 5 more. After almost losing Wee Nut and after our 30%  false positive on genetic testing that we had done with Honey Nut, we feel like we had enough close calls, and have decided to not have any more children. I struggle with that decision everyday and often wonder if it was a mistake to make our decision final.

What is your favorite book or movie?

My favorite book is Mists of Avalon My favorite movie is Ever After.

Veronica from Thrifty Home came over from The BlogFrog and asked.

Your Son, was he born with Hypoplastic Left Heart, by any chance?

No, he doesn’t have HLHS, his official diagnosis is Double Inlet, Single Ventricle with Pulmonary Atresia and Malpositioned Great Arteries. He has a single ventricle that is very similar to HLHS, except that hypoplastic describes the left heart and Wee Nut has a true single ventricle. Wee Nut is close to having Hypoplastic Right Heart, except that he doesn’t have the right heart, he has the left heart which is the stronger ventricle. His heart has no problem pumping the blood. His biggest issue was the rare Pulmonary Atresia which was the cause of his single ventricle and the main reason that when he was born there was no blood cycling through to his lungs to pick up new oxygen. His Great Arteries are not at all placed where they should be and they both go into his single ventricle, which is the Double Inlet.

I am fairly certain that is the best and simplest way to describe his CHD. I hope it is understandable.

Thanks Veronica and Tricia for playing along and coming up with a few questions to ask me. If y’all have any other questions for me, I will do this again sometime.

Thanks for answering! Ever After is one of my favorite movies, too! Whenever my girls say how wonderful something I did was and I think it was not so great, I quote DaVici from the movie, “I shall go down is history as…” and fill in the blank for the moment. It is one of those things that makes my family smile! I hope you have a great weekend!
