First Snow of the Season

We had a few snow flakes yesterday that got the kids pretty excited, but it didn’t last for long. They woke up this morning looking for snow covering the ground, but there was none. They have been waiting so patiently for snow to come for weeks. I have been trying, and trying to explain to them that last winter was a fluke, and that we don’t usually get several feet of snow in The Shenandoah Valley. They are young, and they don’t quite get it. They also don’t believe me. I have heard that we are supposed to have another snow filled winter, which is fine by me. I love the snow. I have also heard that we are not going to get nearly as much as last year. So I guess we will wait and see!

We finally got a good start to the winter season this afternoon. We have had light shiny snowflakes falling for about 6-7 hours and there is a nice layer of white crystally snow covering our backyard. The little Nuts have been bouncing around the house since it started snowing, their eyes staring out the windows watching flakes fall to the ground. Movie night was hard to settle into as the kids kept getting up to check the level of the snow and make sure it was still snowing.

Even the Transformers movie can not hold the interest of Little Nut Nut.
Wee Nut is wondering what his big brother is looking at.
I love fresh snow!
The kids are already making plans for the fort tomorrow.
Just a fun snow covered rock in our garden.

Oh they look so excited!! I love snow, even just flurries. Last year we had some crazy snow storms and I was in my 8-9 months of pregnancy. I was scared of not being able to get out but this year I’m bringing it on! I want the snowball fights and hot chocolate hahahaha hope they have fun tomorrow : )

All my kids were born May-September, so I never had to worry about getting stuck at home for delivery, lol. The kids are loving the snow today! I have a feeling we are having hot chocolate for lunch, it is going to be hard to resist 🙂
