Out of the Mouths of Babes – My Baby Girl Said WHAT & My Oldest is the Sweetest!

Last week I mentioned that my sweet baby girl is fond of the F-bomb. Would it be wrong to say that I giggle when she does it? It is not a word that she is going to hear around our house or anywhere we go. Last week I didn’t think that it had any connection to anything because it usually was said along with other words like look, up, duck and now some new ones bruck and luck. I have spent many days trying to figure out what she means, and the more I try to figure it out the more she says it. Everything became clear yesterday when I served her breakfast, with cut up bananas and a fork. She excitedly screamed bruck bruck, grabbed her fork and squealed the F-bomb over and over. So apparently she runs around all day long talking about eating breakfast with a fork.

I am glad I figured that one out. I am still not taking her out in public anytime soon.

Wing Nut had a writing assignment today that asked him to write a Letter to the Editor. We looked at the basic idea of a letter to the editor which includes opinions, mixed with facts, concerns, marked with examples, ideas that are often backed up by others or events or situations that are important to a specific group of people. We talked about it and read a few examples. This is what he came up with.

Dear Mr Blue Ray,

My brother, Owain has a heart defect and I want everyone to know about it. A heart defect is when babies hearts aren’t made properly. Whenever he gets really blue and he can’t stop, I worry about him. He’ll have another surgery when he’s 3, and he’ll be away at the hospital for 1-2 months. He was very brave and I want him to do the same for this surgery. I want everyone to be aware what’s going to happen when his heart is cut open.

Sincerely,
Wing Nut

I got a chill when I read that. What a sweet kid. Sometimes I forget that he worries about Owain too. It seems like such a heavy worry for a 9 year old. I wish he didn’t have to think about his brother turning blue or what will happen when they cut his heart open. He may be the King of the Sucker Punch, nailing E Nut every time he gets a chance, but Wing Nut has a very quiet, hold it all in personality and sometimes I forget how he used to cry when I read him the story of the lost baby kangaroo looking for his mother. This kid just earned himself a Get Out of Jail Free card!

I love this blog! I will never be able to put a fork on the table again without thinking about the f bomb. Poor Wing Nut…it is truly more than many adults can handle…imagine being 9. He sounds like a wonderful, awesome big brother and Owaine has not only a big brother but a friend who will have his back for life. How proud you must be. Keep the great stories coming. I do enjoy them.

Thanks Tammy! He is such a good big brother, I can’t imagine being worried about such a thing as a child.
