10 Reasons Why I am Not a Fan of Daylight Savings Time

I am not a fan of Daylight Savings Time. I think if we left time alone to do it’s thing, the way it does most of the time, we would have plenty of daylight and it is not really something that needs saving. There are several reasons why I am not a fan, and since I am a fan of making lists here they are.

  1. It really messes up my kids sleep schedule. It is so hard to get the kids to bed when it is still light out.
  2. It really messes up my sleep schedule. I go to bed later because it takes longer to get my kids in bed.
  3. It messes up our homeschool schedule. Everything gets started later and my whole day gets behind.
  4. It takes me weeks to remember to make dinner on time.
  5. I get even more confused than usual.
  6. I think about all the other people driving and working on less sleep and wonder if they are just as tired and hungry and confused as I am.
  7. When everyone goes back to work, there are more accidents and heart attacks than your average Monday morning.
  8. I both envy and feel sorry for those states that don’t observe Daylight Saving time. They get to go about their days and not have to worry about a new schedule. But then it totally stinks for the people who live, work, shop on the borders of those states, how on earth do they deal with the time change back and forth?!? It makes my mind spin.
  9. I don’t feel like I accomplish more than any other time of the year, but I feel like napping more.
  10. It makes me grumpy because I don’t like it and there is nothing I can do about it.

Really, the only reason why I like it is because it stays light longer. I wish we never had to go through it being dark at 4 pm.

I wish they would just pick a time and stick with it. This back and forth thing with the time drives me crazy, lol. Especially since we just changed it in November.
