Winner of the Best Talking Animal Spring Garden Lego Creation

So proud!

Even though it was Sunday, The Nut House Homeschool was in session. Today’s assignment was to create a Lego creation based on Spring. The kids were asked to use as many Legos as they could to create a Spring setting. Little Nut Nut, Wee Nut, and Honey Nut have a massive Duplo collection and my little 4 year old was excited to win his very first Lego Competition.

Yesterday I headed out to Target to get some prizes. All prizes were outdoor Spring themed goodies. One prize is, apparently one of the biggest fads in the world of 4-9 year olds, and the first time our kids have gotten into a trendy fad that their peers are ga ga over.

The story behind the prizes will have to wait for another day though, tonight is for Little Nut Nut and his amazing Talking Animal, No Cats Allowed, Spring Garden creation. Off to the left you can see his swimming pool and off to the right you can see his garden. In the middle is where the talking animals hang out and talk! The tiger is allowed because it is not the type of cat that comes into our yard and uses our gardens, and pole shed as a litter box. I find it somewhat frustrating that their father has led them to believe that cats are not welcome in our house. We need to work on getting some pets into The Nut House! A few cats and dogs would be a welcome addition to our family!

He likes to help me play FarmVille on facebook. He will remind me to check to see how our crops are growing and makes sure I have enough coins to pay for the upkeep of the farm. If you look at the garden off to the right, you can see that he as fertilized his crops with sparkly stars to help his flowers grow. I have been using FarmVille as a homeschool tool for over a year. The kids help to decide which crops to plant and what time of day. They know that they can’t plant crops that will be ready for harvest in 4 hours late in the day or they will wither before they have time to check on their farm. We also talk about money, how to spend it best and why it is important not to spend all of the coins. It is a silly game, but the kids enjoy it, and making decisions. I enjoy that I can teach them about things like time, money and taking care of a “living” thing. We will be planting our real seeds in the next few weeks for planting outside in May. The kids love gardening and I love that they love it!
