Time is Slipping Away, but Owain is Doing Fabulous

Owain is doing fabulous. FABULOUS!

His appointments have been scheduled every 2 weeks now, and while there is still a bit of fluid around his Heart, it is no more than when he was discharged last month. He has an appointment tomorrow and if there is no more fluid then we will cut his lasix down and drop his aldactone all together. He is still on the low fat diet, but he stopped losing weight and is gaining very slowly and/or at least maintaining his weight.

He is very understanding for a 3 year old about some of the foods that he wants to eat but can not. It is pathetically easy to explain that “this food might make fluid build up in your chest, and it might make your belly hurt with all the fluid building up. You don’t want to have to go get another chest tube do you?” His answer is usually “Um, no thank you”

What a smart, understanding, brave little boy I have, I am incredibly proud of this kid!

Back to the lighter side of life…My Tribe is doing AWESOME, even in the middle of all this. Homeschool is set up a little different this year now that there are 3 kids to officially teach and we are all overflowing with stupid amounts of excitement about doing lessons. I love teaching my children and watching them soak it all in.

Hi Lisa! I’ve heard your name a lot. Are you a MLH directo for Charlottesville? I just joined and am hoping to make it to an event sometime soon. Take care!

Hi Annie! You are popping up all over my interwebs this week! Sorry I didn’t see this here on my blog, I was visiting family in the land of sloooow internet. I did get all your emails though and sent you a proposal!! And yes, I am the group leader for MLH of Cville. I know you have moved, but if you are around the area, please come join us.

Hope Owain continues to do well. And that finances sort themselves out. God only gives us what we can handle, at least that is what my sister told me years ago when her son was born with left heart syndrome –

      Thanks Mama!

Apparently he seems to think that we have a huge plate that can hold more and more, lol. But we are doing our best to make the most of what we have 🙂

I am not where you are but adding these two boys has about done us in. Between the legal issues to get him and then traveling back to WV it has been crazy
