I am Not as Strong as I appear. I enjoy weakness from time to time. We are a homeschooling, special needs family of 6. My 4th son has a Congenital Heart defect, and my oldest has ADHD. I am a survivor of Adultery and mental abuse. I learned that you never really know someone until you are strong enough to stand up and walk away. I love and protect my children, with everything I have. My life might seem unbelievable, but I couldn't make this shit up if I tried! Stick around & let's get to know each other.

Quick Update on Owain’s Heart Cath with Decisions to be Made

It has been a long day. I didn’t sleep much, or well last night and not that my day is over I don’t have much energy left. Everything went great. We ended up going in much later than scheduled, which made for a long morning for Owain. We were scheduled for 9:30 and it...

Owain's Heart Cath May 2011 1

I like to think that I have been doing a pretty good job holding myself together. Between his birthday on the 3rd and thinking about his first surgery 3 years ago, and his up coming Heart Cath tomorrow and surgery next month, I have had plenty to freak out over. I have really tried...

He Almost Died. But He Didn’t.

Three years ago, today was Mother’s Day. The day started with a phone call to UVa to talk to Owain’s nurse to see how things went overnight, after getting off the phone with her I thought that while things were not really getting better, they weren’t getting worse. I spent some time with his...

Thinking of Baby Owee

Sleeping and Waving, Waving and Sleeping

Today I was thinking about Wee Nut’s first couple of days and weeks after he came home from the hospital after his first open heart surgery. Today is the anniversary of his failed cath procedure at 6 days old. Dr Limm was hoping that he could go in and put a stent in to...

Dr Owain Checks His Brothers Heart

I can’t believe Owain hasn’t had a Dr kit until now! Grammy Nut found one the other day and just had to get it for him. He has been playing with it and giving everyone a check-up. We might have to start taking some of his Dr tools to appointments with us!

Random Thoughts of a CHD Mom

We had an amazing Mended Little Hearts meeting tonight. Our 3 leaders live in different towns and only really get to see each other once a month. It has always made planning for the group a bit difficult. We had a leaders meeting tonight and were able to sit down and talk about our...

Mended Little Hearts Making Food Bags for Heart Families

Owee and his 4 big brothers helping out!

Mended Little Hearts of Charlottesville’s main purpose is to really focus on inpatient families at UVa. I have met very few families who live locally, most of the families we meet are from several hours away. The past couple of months we have been leaving food at the hospital and trying to figure out...

10 Things Tuesday

10 Things Tuesday New Banner

I know how completely ineffective it is to try to host a blog hop and not get it posted until the end of the day. That doesn’t usually stop me from trying though. I just got off the phone with some great Mended Little Hearts leaders for Virgina and SW Pennsylvania. I love conference...

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday at The Nut House

Happy Thursday Y’all! So I did something really stupid yesterday. I was in the middle of a phone call with the phone company, the kids kept coming in and asking me a million questions, even though the door was closed and I told them I was on the phone, leave me alone for a...

Happy to Be Home? Maybe. Full of Anxiety? Sure.

We are so grateful to everyone who has been praying for Owain and for all of your wonderful words of encouragement and support. *I was just getting ready to read over this post and check for random errors when Honey Nut woke up coughing, gagging and pulling for air. Fabulous. I spent about 20...

Owee Had an Amazing Turnaround Last Night!

Your prayers have been heard! Owain was having a difficult time yesterday, but everything started going really bad after his 3pm Xopenex treatement. Instead of helping his breathing, it made it worse. So we stopped giving it to him. He has had Xopenex before, so I don’t know why he had such a bad...

Things Are Not Looking Good for Owain

And I am getting frustrated. Last night the ER doc thought he had an ear infection, but the doctor on call came in and said no ear infection. His pediatrician came in this morning and said that at least one ear was infected and the other one was red and swollen. That explains the...

The Wet Engine vs Eat Pray Love

I haven’t vlogged in a while, and I don’t usually get so chatty, but I figured what the heck, it is Friday night so I will throw caution to the wind and ramble into my webcam. I am getting ready to give up reading Eat Pray Love until I am finished reading The Wet...

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Last week I mentioned that my sweet baby girl is fond of the F-bomb. Would it be wrong to say that I giggle when she does it? It is not a word that she is going to hear around our house or anywhere we go. Last week I didn’t think that it had any...
