Backyard Makeover

May 14, 2011

Before the addition this garden was twice as long. We had to move it after the addition was done, the house blocked the sun.

When we started our addition 3 years ago, we had a fairly nice backyard. Nothing too special. We had a used swing set, a small garden space for veggies along with a few other small gardens and a nice green lawn. A couple of days before Owain was born we broke ground and had...Keep Reading Here »

May 4, 2011
By

Wednesday is WeighDay for Wing Nut. He as been doing well for the most part. He gained a lot of weight at the very start, I am guessing that it is because he was so far underweight. A few weeks ago we were disappointed when he didn’t gain any weight. And I am kind...Keep Reading Here »

10 Things Tuesday

March 29, 2011

I know how completely ineffective it is to try to host a blog hop and not get it posted until the end of the day. That doesn’t usually stop me from trying though. I just got off the phone with some great Mended Little Hearts leaders for Virgina and SW Pennsylvania. I love conference...Keep Reading Here »

New Lighting in the Addition!

March 19, 2011
By

We opened up the addition last year in June. It wasn’t done, but it was done enough to move in. The kids had their rooms painted, but no base boards, the light fixtures were the cheap utility lights that are meant for the attic or basement. The closets were not finished, with no doors...Keep Reading Here »

Working on the Addition, Working Out & Working on Mended Little Hearts Website

March 13, 2011
By

After opening up our addition in June of last year, we took a break from the constant work. It was getting to be too much physically, emotionally and financially. It was nice to take some time off, but now it is getting to the point where it is getting annoying that it is still...Keep Reading Here »

Home Addition Starting the Framing 4

Within a few weeks of Wee Nut coming home from the hospital, we started to get to work on the addition.  There were mounds of dirt from the excavator and gravel all over the back yard and the kids were calling it their Indiana Jones Pit. They had a great time climbing all over...Keep Reading Here »

Home Addition foundation 4

The week before Owain was born, we broke ground on our addition on the back of our house. We designed it ourselves and spent over a year planning for it. When Owain was born we had no idea that he had a Heart Defect. While we were in the hospital with him, we had...Keep Reading Here »

It has been raining for days. DAYS! We had HVAC over today to finish up the heating/cooling in the addition and clean out the vent system in our old ductwork. We have lived in our house for almost 7 years, and have not ever had the ducts cleaned. And by the condition of the...Keep Reading Here »

Thank you for praying!

Praying for Owain

After his Fontan on June 24th he went home after 6 days! Now we are back in the hospital waiting for fluid to stop draining from around his right lung.

Little Nut Nut

Little Nut Nut

Little Nut Nut is my 5 year old boy genius and totally freaks me out with the things he can do. What type of child learns to read at 3 years old?!? He is his Big Brothers shadow and wants to do what ever they do. He doesn't have any trouble letting everyone around here know what he thinks, has no inner voice and talks non-stop all day long. If he thinks it, he says it. He says things like "I love life" and "I am made of Awesome" and always makes me smile, even when I don't want to.

Wing Nut

E Nut

My Wing Nut, 10 years old, is my first born and is a Lego Fanatic. He talks in his sleep about "interesting number combinations" and insists that he is going to work for Lego when he grows up. From the moment he gets the current issue of Lego magazine in the mail, he anticipates the arrival of the next one. He has crazy mood swings, has recently been diagnosed with ADHD but I am not so sure that is correct. He is considered Failure to Thrive and I struggle everyday to get him to gain weight, he keeps getting taller, but not gaining any weight. I think if we can figure out why he his Failure to Thrive, his ADHD will go away.
