I am Not as Strong as I appear. I enjoy weakness from time to time. We are a homeschooling, special needs family of 7. My 4th son has a Congenital Heart defect, and my oldest has ADHD. We like to find old things and make them new, so we bought a house that was in desperate need of repair, then we doubled the sized of it. This project is well over 9 years long, with still plenty to do, and has pushed my fear of heights over the limit too many times. The best part is I am still alive to talk about it! Some of my passions are my children, and making Jewelry. When life gets stressful (often times stress induced by children!) opening up my bins of beads to create something beautiful that will soon bring joy to someone else is all I need. That and chocolate. I am just hanging on by the seat of my pants. Stick around & let's get to know each other.

Pretty Good OK for a Monday

You know it figures that we get the furnace dried out and lit and it was so nice overnight that we didn’t even need it last night. Today was beautiful, the windows were open and it filled my house with the damp muddy smell of spring. It think it is going to be a...

Homeschool Room Makeover Organizing the Curriculums and Closet

Homeschool Room Makeover Organizing my Teaching Space

Last year I just taught my oldest Nut and it wasn’t that big of a deal to have just 1 child’s curriculums to organize. I had a small space that I created in my office, but it still ended up all over the house. This year I took 3 shelf units from our bedroom...

Homeschool Room Makeover After the Walls are Repaired and Painted

Homeschool Room Makeover Organizing my Teaching Space

It took us 5 years to finally finish caulking around the windows, fill in the nail holes and paint the trim and the baseboards. The Classroom was Wing Nut’s bedroom for 7 years, E Nut’s bedroom for over 5 years and Little Nut Nut’s room for 2 years. Have you ever noticed that sometimes...

Slugs in my Dryer and Between my Toes

I can’t think of many things more disgusting than slugs. Some might not consider the Shenandoah Valley to be “The South” but this Damn Yankee sure does! There are very few days when slugs are not sliming around my yard. Winter, spring, summer and fall, slugs can be found. I hate slugs. Hate is...

Welcome to The Nut House

My motto is “There is nothing wrong with a little crazy in your day” and I completely believe it. I think if I didn’t allow just a bit of crazy into my daily routine I would go completely bonkers. The Nut House consists of my myself, my husband William, my 4 boys ages 7,...
