Kitchen Remodel 5

I have been organizing lots of things in my life lately. It is my way of getting ready for Owain’s surgery. I have been working on finishing up projects that I started, organizing, unpacking boxes that have now been packed away for close to 3 years, going through photos, both older film developed ones...Keep Reading Here »

You know it figures that we get the furnace dried out and lit and it was so nice overnight that we didn’t even need it last night. Today was beautiful, the windows were open and it filled my house with the damp muddy smell of spring. It think it is going to be a...Keep Reading Here »

My 4 boys and 1 baby girl are constantly destroying all sorts of things around The Nut House. This is the first video of a series called “Things My Kids Destroy”. I may or may not keep the title of this series. I haven’t decided yet. I was also thinking about calling it @#&%...Keep Reading Here »

Last year I just taught my oldest Nut and it wasn’t that big of a deal to have just 1 child’s curriculums to organize. I had a small space that I created in my office, but it still ended up all over the house. This year I took 3 shelf units from our bedroom...Keep Reading Here »

It took us 5 years to finally finish caulking around the windows, fill in the nail holes and paint the trim and the baseboards. The Classroom was Wing Nut’s bedroom for 7 years, E Nut’s bedroom for over 5 years and Little Nut Nut’s room for 2 years. Have you ever noticed that sometimes...Keep Reading Here »

Until the middle of June, our three oldest Nuts shared a bedroom. It was a tight fit, with a set of bunk beds and another bed, bookshelf dressers and all the toys of the three Nuts packed in. After they moved out we started repairing the damage caused by 3 boys and the way...Keep Reading Here »

Slugs in my Dryer and Between my Toes

November 30, 2009
By

I can’t think of many things more disgusting than slugs. Some might not consider the Shenandoah Valley to be “The South” but this Damn Yankee sure does! There are very few days when slugs are not sliming around my yard. Winter, spring, summer and fall, slugs can be found. I hate slugs. Hate is...Keep Reading Here »

Welcome to The Nut House

My motto is “There is nothing wrong with a little crazy in your day” and I completely believe it. I think if I didn’t allow just a bit of crazy into my daily routine I would go completely bonkers. The Nut House consists of my myself, my husband William, my 4 boys ages 7,...Keep Reading Here »

Thank you for praying!

Praying for Owain

After his Fontan on June 24th he went home after 6 days! Now we are back in the hospital waiting for fluid to stop draining from around his right lung.

Little Nut Nut

Little Nut Nut

Little Nut Nut is my 5 year old boy genius and totally freaks me out with the things he can do. What type of child learns to read at 3 years old?!? He is his Big Brothers shadow and wants to do what ever they do. He doesn't have any trouble letting everyone around here know what he thinks, has no inner voice and talks non-stop all day long. If he thinks it, he says it. He says things like "I love life" and "I am made of Awesome" and always makes me smile, even when I don't want to.

Wing Nut

E Nut

My Wing Nut, 10 years old, is my first born and is a Lego Fanatic. He talks in his sleep about "interesting number combinations" and insists that he is going to work for Lego when he grows up. From the moment he gets the current issue of Lego magazine in the mail, he anticipates the arrival of the next one. He has crazy mood swings, has recently been diagnosed with ADHD but I am not so sure that is correct. He is considered Failure to Thrive and I struggle everyday to get him to gain weight, he keeps getting taller, but not gaining any weight. I think if we can figure out why he his Failure to Thrive, his ADHD will go away.
