I am Not as Strong as I appear. I enjoy weakness from time to time. We are a homeschooling, special needs family of 6. My 4th son has a Congenital Heart defect, and my oldest has ADHD. I am a survivor of Adultery and mental abuse. I learned that you never really know someone until you are strong enough to stand up and walk away. I love and protect my children, with everything I have. My life might seem unbelievable, but I couldn't make this shit up if I tried! Stick around & let's get to know each other.

A Summer Pasta Salad

One of my favorite Summer foods is a cold Pasta Salad. It is light enough to eat first thing in the morning, makes a great lunch on a hot day and is the perfect addition to dinner on the grill. This Summer Pasta Salad is so cheap and easy to make, I make this...

Two Days in a Row…

One of my little Nuts woke up at 5am with a nightmare…thus starting my sleepy day a bit early. I am up cleaning & nesting shortly after the nightmare, OCD style…the baby could be here any day. My 2 year old Nut woke up with a dry nighttime diaper…Yippie!

A Decaf Tea Fruit Punch Cooler

Decaf Tea Fruit Punch Cooler

One of the things I love the most about summer is making Sun Tea. A fruity decaffeinated tea with slices of fresh fruit makes a naturally sweet and refreshing drink for anytime of the day or night. The fruit adds enough sweetness that no sugar is needed for this punch at all. This Decaf...

Only one more month…

I can’t believe that we only have 1 more month until the 5th Little Nut joins The Nut House! I guess it is getting to the point where I should already be packed and have a freezer full of ready made dinners…but I don’t. It would also be nice if we had somewhere to...

A Gallon of Refreshing Sweet Iced Sun Tea

Sun Tea with Ice Bucket

One of the things I love the most about summer is making Sun Tea by the Gallon. Getting up first thing in the morning and setting the gallon jug out on the stoop to soak up the sun’s rays is such a good feeling and a great way to start your day. And for...

Homemade Black Raspberry-Apple Spread

Black Raspberry-Apple Spread

My Black Raspberry-Apple Spread is much like a jam, and more of a cross between Black Raspberry Preserves and Apple Jelly. I have a huge Black Raspberry bush that grows bigger every year, but also gets bigger from all of the wild bushes that pop up all over our small piece of property in...

The Perfect Homemade Iced Coffee!

Ice Coffee

You might think the only way to get the perfect Iced Coffee is to go to your local coffee shop and spend way too much money, but you would be wrong. When gas prices rise and food costs make it hard to put food on the table you have to start cutting back. Making...

Speak. Confirm. Repeat. and do it again.

There is one ongoing conversation that has been repeated so many times since summer vacation started that it qualifies for a little bit of crazy. E Nut, my 5 year old came home from the last day of school with a squirt gun…just one. We have one squirt gun and at least 2 other...

Tales From My Veggie Garden 2009 II

Last weekend I managed to get quite a bit in the ground, but not everything. Some veggies are doing well, others OK and some not doing well at all. Over all I am happy with the beginning results and still have time to replant some of the veggies that did not make it. As...

Tales From My Veggie Garden 2009 I

I am going to “try” to do at least a weekly update on my veggie garden. Hopefully things will go well and I will be able to update much more often as everything starts to grow. We had very little luck last year as we lost our entire veggie bed because of back yard...

Choosing to Potty Train

I have been asking my 2 yr old Little Nut Nut if he wants to use the potty for months, probably almost a year and he has had very little interest. I thought that maybe he was uncomfortable with the padded potty seat ring to set on the big potty, so we pulled the...

Song for a Fifth Child

Some one sent this poem to me a few months back and I just remembered it. I think it is very fitting for my family. It was first published (I think) in the Ladies Home Journal in 1958. Enjoy! Song for a Fifth Child Mother, oh mother, come shake out your cloth! Empty the...
