10 Things Tuesday

I had hopes and plans for this week. With 5 sick kids, none of it is getting done. As frustrating as it is, I am OK with it. The 3 big kids have had high fevers since last night and when I thought Owee’s had gone down, it came back. Honey Nut had the...

Weigh-Day for Wing Nut, Starting Our Veggie Seeds and Straw Bale Gardening

Wednesday is Weigh Day for Wing Nut. He as been doing well for the most part. He gained a lot of weight at the very start, I am guessing that it is because he was so far underweight. A few weeks ago I was disappointed when he didn’t gain any weight. And I am...

StartWrite 6 Handwriting Software for Creating Worksheets

Startwrite Handwriting Software

It is true what they say about boys and terrible handwriting, my boys penmanship is atrocious! I have learned to decipher my 7 year old E Nut’s writing, and that was no small task, but it has been driving me crazy that half the time I have no idea what his homework says. He...

Reasons Why I Homeschool: Schools That Tell Us What to Feed Our Children

I recently saw an article about a school in Chicago that has banned all food brought from home and is forcing school provided lunches on students. They do make exceptions for food allergies, I will give them that, but to presume that all parents make bad food choices goes too far. The principal has...

A Poem From My Wing Nut

I am not sure if this poem has a title, I giggled so much I forgot to ask. I also didn’t ask him for permission to publish it in all of its entirety, so I hope he doesn’t come down on me and bust me for copyright infringement 😉

Working on the Addition and Family Workout

After opening up our addition in June of last year, we took a break from the constant work. It was getting to be too much physically, emotionally and financially. It was nice to take some time off, but now it is getting to the point where it is getting annoying that it is still...

Reasons Why I Homeschool: Our Founding Fathers

I can’t think of anything I would rather do than spend my days with my children. And the fact that I get to teach them is awesome! Every day I learn something new. I learn things that I forgot and I get to teach things to my kids that I loved learning about when...

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Last week I mentioned that my sweet baby girl is fond of the F-bomb. Would it be wrong to say that I giggle when she does it? It is not a word that she is going to hear around our house or anywhere we go. Last week I didn’t think that it had any...

Reasons Why I Homeschool: Colonial Williamsburg

In September we went to Colonial Williamsburg for the Homeschool experience they have. There are special workshops and discounts for homschool families in September and then again sometime in the spring I think. If you know how we roll, it shouldn’t surprise you that we missed out on most of the scheduled homeschool activities,...

Thankful Thursday at The Nut House

Am I the only one who is relieved it is finally Thursday?!?  I am having one of those weeks where I just can’t seem to get cooperation from the kids and have spend the week living in a state of “what now?” and “what next?” As a preface to today’s Thankful Thursday, I feel...
