I am Not as Strong as I appear. I enjoy weakness from time to time. We are a homeschooling, special needs family of 6. My 4th son has a Congenital Heart defect, and my oldest has ADHD. I am a survivor of Adultery and mental abuse. I learned that you never really know someone until you are strong enough to stand up and walk away. I love and protect my children, with everything I have. My life might seem unbelievable, but I couldn't make this shit up if I tried! Stick around & let's get to know each other.

Yesterday I shared photos of Little Nut Nut with his winning entry for our homescchool Lego Competition that we had yesterday. I never did get photos of the 2 other entries from Wing Nut and E Nut, who also won by the way. The competition came about because of a trendy fad that has...

The Nut House Family Portrait

The Nut House Family Portrait

And by family portrait, I mean all of the kids, I spend my time behind the camera. I took several hundred photos of the kids just before Christmas. Most of them were very much our family in their true form, odd faces, children running all over the place, crying, laughing, spinning, jumping, playing, forgetting...

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday at The Nut House

Happy Thursday Y’all! So I did something really stupid yesterday. I was in the middle of a phone call with the phone company, the kids kept coming in and asking me a million questions, even though the door was closed and I told them I was on the phone, leave me alone for a...

Get Fit with Wii Fit with New Game! Get Ready to Dance!

OK, so I have absolutely nothing to post about. It is obvious that between Owee & Honey Nut getting sick, being exhausted from no real sleep for several nights and my running out of Zoloft there was no time or energy for working out. Those two babies are still fairly sick. They both have...

Happy to Be Home? Maybe. Full of Anxiety? Sure.

We are so grateful to everyone who has been praying for Owain and for all of your wonderful words of encouragement and support. *I was just getting ready to read over this post and check for random errors when Honey Nut woke up coughing, gagging and pulling for air. Fabulous. I spent about 20...

Owee Had an Amazing Turnaround Last Night!

Your prayers have been heard! Owain was having a difficult time yesterday, but everything started going really bad after his 3pm Xopenex treatement. Instead of helping his breathing, it made it worse. So we stopped giving it to him. He has had Xopenex before, so I don’t know why he had such a bad...

Things Are Not Looking Good for Owain

And I am getting frustrated. Last night the ER doc thought he had an ear infection, but the doctor on call came in and said no ear infection. His pediatrician came in this morning and said that at least one ear was infected and the other one was red and swollen. That explains the...

Sitting in the ER with Owain

Sitting in the ER, again, wishing we weren’t here. The nurses are getting to know us. I recognize them, they recognize us. One of Owain’s ER nurses from last month told me she thinks about him often and has added him to her prayer list. So.Darn.Sweet. One of his nurses tonight was up working...

The Wet Engine vs Eat Pray Love

I haven’t vlogged in a while, and I don’t usually get so chatty, but I figured what the heck, it is Friday night so I will throw caution to the wind and ramble into my webcam. I am getting ready to give up reading Eat Pray Love until I am finished reading The Wet...

Out of the Mouths of Babes

Last week I mentioned that my sweet baby girl is fond of the F-bomb. Would it be wrong to say that I giggle when she does it? It is not a word that she is going to hear around our house or anywhere we go. Last week I didn’t think that it had any...

CHD Awareness Week Congenital Heart Defects

This post was originally posted last year in May for Owain’s 2nd birthday. It is the story of his birth and the moments following his diagnosis of having a Congenital Heart Defect. I have spent the past week working extra hard to raise awareness of CHDs and how common they are and I think...

A Song for Struggling Families

For all the Heart Families Who are Forced to be Strong When it Would be so Much Easier to be Weak This song always brings up memories of when Owain was born. Without fail, I would hear this song every single day, either on the way into to visit him at UVa or on...

Out of the Mouths of Babes

My children live to embarrass me. I am convinced of it. Little do they know after giving birth to 5 kids, showing off my girlie parts of a room full of strangers on 5 different occasions, there is little that they can do to embarrass me. They are working hard at it though. Wee...

Owain’s Hospital Update

Sleeping Sleeping All the Children are Sleeping…
