Ahoy me hearties! It’s talk like a pirate day.

Shiver me timbers today is the day we get to walk around talking like pirates, officially! My kids love this day! They have pirate costumes and they dress up and sword fight while watching Pirates of the Caribbean. We are going to have a Pirates of the Caribbean marathon today and watch all the movies,...

Fun Friday Photos

Have you ever had one of those moments where you look at what your kids at doing and think “AAAHhhhhhhh”!? Followed by “AAAAHHHHhhhhhhhhh”! And then you realize that everything in fact is fine. Wing Nut created this massive toy sculpture a few years ago, and when I first saw that he was sitting on...

Thankful Thursday at The Nut House

Life can be crazy sometimes, so it is nice to take a minute to think about all the wonderful things we have and think about all the things we are Thankful for. You can also read about what prompted me to start Thankful Thursdays. I would love it if you would join me in...

As I Was

As I was enjoying my very well organized morning, I realized that something was terribly wrong. It only took me a fraction of a second to figure out what it was, but in that moment my feelings of accomplishment and pride were shattered and I was suddenly racing around my house with feelings of...

Vote to See Congenital Heart Defects on The Doctors

I would love to see an episode of The Doctors devoted to Congenital Heart Defects. I have also added a link to my sidebar to vote, but I thought I would add a quick post as well. Congenital Heart Defects affect about 1 in 100 babies, making it the most common birth defect. This...

French Bread Pizza

Pizza is one of those quick diners that makes everyone in our family happy. The price of take-out and even store bought frozen pizza does not make me very happy though. I was at Walmart a while ago and came across a stack of day old French bread for .90 cents! Since then I...

Electrical Passed Inspection!

This is the post that I was working on weeks ago when I was in labor. I started it in the morning and then I floated through the rest of the day(early labor had me in a daze). Then when I was trying to keep busy during labor I tried to finish it. I would have had it posted before we had to leave for the hospital, but my camera is overloaded with pictures and takes forever to load. By the time I found the pictures, William was reminding me that we need to get to the hospital…and he was right.

From July 20-21

Everything was spot on & we passed inspection the very first time!

How exciting is that!?!

Everything has been moving along so slowly for months and now that the electrical is finished, we can move on. Above the patio is two bedrooms.

We are going to hang the drywall on the ceiling on the second floor and blow in the insulation in the attic space. After that we get to hang the dry wall on the walls. This is starting to get really exciting! I think we are going to try to finish off at least one of the bathrooms first. Three boys and two adults are using one small bathroom and it will be so nice to be able to have another bathroom…and it will be even better when we have three! Yippie.

So here are the pictures of the addition just after the electrical was inspected…Click on the image scroll through.

Little Nut Nut’s First Day of Preschool

Little Nut Nut started preschool today. He is so very proud of himself. We had a meeting with his teacher in his classroom last week and I had to drag him out of there kicking and screaming…explaining to his teacher that he in fact did not normally act like this, and hoping that she...

Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday at The Nut House

I can’t believe how quick this past week has gone! Getting settled back into the school year and homeschooling is coming along slowly, but hopefully we will get the hang of it soon. This week has been full of setbacks, forgotten appointments (remembered at the last minute!) and sleepless nights. I am tired, cranky,...
