I am Not as Strong as I appear. I enjoy weakness from time to time. We are a homeschooling, special needs family of 6. My 4th son has a Congenital Heart defect, and my oldest has ADHD. I am a survivor of Adultery and mental abuse. I learned that you never really know someone until you are strong enough to stand up and walk away. I love and protect my children, with everything I have. My life might seem unbelievable, but I couldn't make this shit up if I tried! Stick around & let's get to know each other.

52 Weeks of Handwriting: Blue

Owee Blue Two

We started our 52 Weeks Of Handwriting today. We had a full day of lessons already planned, with a few left over from Tuesday that should have been done yesterday after Classical Conversations co-op. I always have plans of keeping up the momentum after CC and use our short afternoon to catch up, or...

PreSchool Scissors Practice – Fun Friday Photos

PreSchool Scissors Practice

I wish I could remember where I got the worksheets for the scissor practice! I would like to see if there are more patterns to cut. I might just have to take a few minutes and make more myself.     Honey Nut and Wee Nut have made dozens of little scraps this afternoon...

101 Reasons Why I Homeschool {8} My Five Nuts – Four Boys and One Little Girl

101 Reasons Why I Homeschool {8} My Five Nuts – Four Boys and One Little Girl

From the moment I knew I was pregnant, I knew I was going to Homeschool my children. By the time my oldest children were school age, I wasn’t ready and sent them to Montessori School first, and then to public school. Making the choice to send my kids to public school was one that...

Dissecting Crayfish at Classical Conversations Homeschool Group

Phone Download October 29 2012 098

I was room mom for Wee Nut’s ABC class the day our Classical Conversations group dissected Crawdads. The group of 4-5 year old boys were all super excited and not one bit squeamish. My Little Owee was not really sure what to do, but when we found the Heart, his excitement level...

Way-Back Wednesday

No I am NOT a Miniature and if you stop taking my picture there will be no way to prove that I am!

I had to check the actual day to make sure it was in fact Wednesday. It is. Then I was gonna do a Wordless Wednesday post, but then I realized that I haven’t taken hardly any pictures of anyone in MONTHS. What I did find was hundreds of photos from our pre-surgery Hershey Park...

Yep, we’re home

In case you are wondering, and missed the news last week, we are actually home If feels so good. And a bit lonely. And very quiet! And Owain had a clinic appointment with peds cardiology yesterday and there is no fluid building up since we have been home! *doing some serious amounts of cartwheels*

Been Here One Week with No Sign of Leaving Anytime Soon

Passed out after running the halls and riding in the wagon

We are fully immersed in the up and down ride that is the recovery of the Fontan. We have been back in the hospital for 1 week, the days are blurring into one another and time is only really important when it comes to giving my Little Owee his meds. I think it was...

Hanging at the Hospital Again

Owain is sitting here at UVa Children’s doing puzzles after actually eating a good lunch. I am guessing the nurse will come in to check on us any minute now. I think he has some meds due soon & with any luck they will come in before he gets sleepy and takes a nap....

Super Quick Surgery Update!

I can’t believe how much time has gone by since his surgery, and since we have been home! Owain is doing great, we were sent home only 6 days post fontan. Unbelieveable! His brothers planned a surprise party for him, decorated the living room and gathered all of his favorite things. Everyone was full...

Pre-Op, Hanging out with Daddy

Owain Pre-Op 1

I have been taking photos of my Little Wee Nut for days. While we were waiting in the pre-op room last Friday before his Fontan, I got this photo of Owee with Daddy. This was after he had his dose of versed and was feeling a little silly.

My Little {hero} Owee

While I have been sucked into hospital time, I have lost hours and track of what day it is, but the good news is that Owain is doing great. Friday was such a long, long day, I thought it would never end. I am still recovering from the stress of waiting and worrying. Not...

Final Thoughts Before Owain’s Surgery Tomorrow

My Fearless Hero

We went in to UVa this morning for Owee’s pre-op appointment. Everything looks great for surgery tomorrow. It was a long day and we are tired! We decided to come back and spend some extra time with the other 4 kids for a bit this evening and then we are heading back into Charlottesville...

It is Hard to Believe…

Hershey Park 2011 1

I just realized that today is Friday. That means that we are only 1 week a way from Owain’s surgery. Today though, we had a great time at the park, such a great time that I didn’t even think about what day it was once. I took hundreds of photos, way too many to...

Welcome to Hershey!

The card with our name on it was a fun surprise and a hint that it was more than complementary Hershey chocolates. What could it be!?

We haven’t even made it to the park yet and we are having a great time already! We are enjoying time together, time in the pool  and time forgetting about everything that has been weighing so heavily on us. When we checked into our room yesterday there was a little package waiting for us....

Hershey Park, Here We Come!

After months of planning, we are just hours away from leaving for our Pre-Surgery vacation! We were in the middle of planning our trip when I mentioned it here a few months ago. We had what we thought was a nice trip planned, and what we really wanted to to was to spend time...

Owain Is So Much Like His Big Brothers

He hasn’t taped yarn to his face, or wrapped himself in paper like Wing Nut did, but I won’t be surprised when he does. Wee Nut has an awesome imagination and keeps me on my toes. For the majority of today, he wouldn’t answer me unless I called him Wall-e. He crawls around on...

I Love Me a Sprinkler Kind Of Day

Sprinklers, little pools and sand Oh My!

There was so much to do today. Dishes, laundry, the floors, the bathrooms, pretty much the whole house needed to get cleaned before we go on vacation on Thursday. I started my day with coffee and every intention of avoiding all things involving cleaning. Instead I spent the day with the 2 younger kids...

A New Skirt For Honey Nut Sewn From Owee’s Jeans

Finally standing still and facing me for a good photo.

Since I got my sewing machine last month I haven’t really done much with it. Mostly repairing clothing and blankets and making cloth napkins. Nothing too exciting. Nothing to complicated. I needed a bit of time to get to know my new machine and get back into sewing on a machine again. I used...

Remembering The Day Owain Came Home For the First Time

Such a happy little guy! We are so blessed!

May 29, 2008 was one of the best days of my life. After close to 4 weeks in the hospital, after being told over and over that he could go home, only to be kept another day, we brought Owain home.   It was such a surreal feeling. I was starting to feel like...
