You may have remembered a few days ago when I mentioned that I was done showing off my Homeschool Room Make over photos, but I lied. I actually have a few more photos that I can’t believe I missed.
If you have not seen all of my other post about our Homeschool Room Makeover, you can find them all here

Homeschool Room Makeover Organizing my Teaching Space
When we bought the house over 7 years ago, this was one of the first rooms that we painted. At the time only my oldest Nut was using this room as a bed room and my old office space, which is turning into Wall Nut’s new office space was to be E Nut’s nursery. He was born 3 months after we bought this house, and eventually E Nut and Little Nut Nut both moved into this room. When we were picking out the paint for this room, I found chalkboard paint and thought it brilliant! At that time I painted the bottom of the panels of the door and the closet door. When we decided to turn their old bedroom into the Classroom, I decided to paint the top panels and give the bottom a fresh coat of paint. All the kids can use the bottom panels and the big kids can use the top panels and I can use the whole thing for teaching. This is one of my favorite features in the whole room!
The only problem that I have with the chalkboard paint is that even though I rolled the paint, there were several layers of paint spanning over 50 years and all of them were brushed on. So the surface of the chalkboard is all bumpy in streaks up and down the both doors. I think that I have to do a few more coats rolled on and hope that it smooths out. I still have to do a bit of touch-up on the green paint around the chalkboard panels anyways, so I will try another coat on the panels then.
Has anyone else used chalkboard paint and had any issues with it? Are there any tips or advice you have that could help me to smooth it out?
This is a photo from one corner of the room to try to get a good view. I have more maps and posters and fun educational sheets to hang up around the room. Maybe when that is done I can get a few photos and post them 🙂 You can see my old birthing ball in the bottom left corner…now I use it to sit on when I am teaching. I get to work on my abs while teaching my kids. Life is good, lol.
Another view from the other corner. E Nut is getting sleepy, it has been a looong week. Isn’t every week long though, lol. I love all the wall space for when I get around to hanging up all sorts of fun education goodies.
So that is my last post in my Homeschool Room Makeover series, for real this time. Only probably not because at some point I am going to hang everything on the walls and fix the chalkboard paint. So it is only kind-a-sorta the last post. For now anyways.
I would love to see how you use your space for teaching, link up to a post that you already have on your blog or go take photos and post them today and link up!
My quick afternoon project hasn’t really gone as planned, three days later and…
There is no real entry way into the front of my home, so I am…

I LOVE chalk board paint… when it works. It has been hit and miss for me, probably depending on brand and how pristine the surface we painted was. Your room looks great!

Thanks Tricia! I really hope that I can smooth out the surface of the door panels. It is usable, but would work better if it was smoother. 🙂
