Things are moving along quickly at The Nut House! I am starting to feel like my old self again. By old, I don’t mean that I am starting to feel like my old tired 40 year old body – I mean I am starting to feel like the young old self where I run around acting like “40 is the new 30” or 25 or 20 or whatever it is they say to make us feel young again. I am able to start a project, and get it done. I am able to make plans, and keep them. I am able to walk away, and find something else to do when my little Nuts become little beasties, and the shattering sound of their arguing (with me or each other) becomes too much to handle.
I am still not able to always remember that I have a wet load of laundry in the washer that has to go into the dryer. Since that happens more often than not, I am completely out of vinegar to get rid of the musty smell from clothes that sit sealed up in my washer, steaming up the window, and waiting to stink up the laundry room when I open the door. Of course that means that I end up washing many of my clothes twice – but in the end that means that they have a better chance of getting all the filth out, right? Yes, it does. Sometimes I forget to turn the dishwasher on, take a shower or brush my teeth – but we have all been there, right? Those are the normal things that moms with young children forget to do from time to time. For me, for right now, they don’t bother me. For me, at this moment, it is not the end of the world, it will not ruin my day, make me cry or, lose my focus. I am able to get up, dust myself off (cuz sometimes my floors get really dusty) and get on with my day.
That also means that things are getting done around here. I am continuing my organizing, and reorganizing of The Nut House. I am getting things done and moving on. It feels good.
The crazy weather has made it hard for me to actually pack up the kids warm weather clothes. Every time I think I am done, it gets warm again. This week I made some good progress in the change of seasons clothing swap. While I was hoping to get it done before today, unfortunately that didn’t happen. Instead of that I started cleaning out our entertainment center, and bookshelf in the living room, and helping Wall Nut rewire our new to us, gifted old stereo system from my parents with 2 new (to us) speakers, and finally get the Wii wired through the back of the DVD player instead of the front of the TV. We have been trying to figure out how to do that for almost 2 years, and since we were changing out the old broken stereo system for one that works, we figured that would be the best time. Now everything is wired completely away from the babies at all times so I don’t have to hover when the big brothers are playing Wii. We have a total of 4 stereo speakers hooked up to our TV. We watched Harry Potter the next day, and the sound was amazing!
My new office is not done being organized yet, but I have several bags of garbage, and donation items filled, and have found even more Homeschool supplies.
This week I will be Taking On the end of both of those projects as well as cleaning out our bedroom, and organizing the living room closet. All of which will be more than enough to keep me busy in between teaching the 3 big brothers, and taking care of a home and keeping it running smoothly. I think I can manage it though!
How about you? What are you Taking On this week?
My quick afternoon project hasn’t really gone as planned, three days later and…
There is no real entry way into the front of my home, so I am…

Age is a mindset. Keep reminding yourself of this. “I’m only as old as I want to feel.” We’ve all been there, ladybug. Wet laundry let in the washer, dirty dishes unattended, teeth not brushed, etc. And, we all know how wonderful it is to accomplish some goals. Being a mother is the hardest yet most rewarding job ever. I’m sure we all will agree on this for the most part, right? So, that-a-girl on a job well done!

Haha, thanks Cathy! When I was turning 40 a friend told me that “yesterday I was an old 30 something and now I am a young 40 something.” Brilliant! I am young again 😉

Hi Cristi, Nice to meet you! 🙂

Wow! You have a lot going on. I am not sure I could tackle that many projects and still keep my head above water!

LOL Tricia, I am totally treading water over here! We have been working on fixing up our house and finishing our addition for so long, and now that we are taking a break from working on the house, we are finding that we need to do some serious organizing to clear out the clutter and mess that comes with living in a home while you fix it up.
It takes tons of energy and time, but it feels soooo good 🙂
