Honey Nut’s Dresser Gets Refinished {before}

About a year ago, one of my neighbors called me up to tell me that she had just thrown away a dresser, that it was in the back alley, and if I wanted it, I could grab it. So I went and checked it out, and decided to grab it. For awhile it sat in our addition – way back when there was nothing but insulation. Once Honey Nut got old enough to need a dresser, I cleaned it up and since her bedroom was actually a corner in the living room, the dresser hung out around corner in the playroom.

After we opened up the back of the house, and moved Honey Nut into her bedroom, with her new real crib, which was not a bassinet or playpen, I figured I needed to refinish her dresser to match her crib, which has a dark cherry finish. This is what her dresser looked like before I refinished it.

Those are some seriously old draw pulls!
Lots of banged up scratches and candle wax. I think the dresser might have belonged to her son.
After some scraping.

The bottom of the drawers were falling out.
After the scraping and sanding is done.

Tomorrow I will post the after photos, I would post them now, but I haven’t taken them yet. I am really excited how awesome it turned out!
