Seeking Donations for CHD Awareness Event & Fundraiser {Silent Auction}

If you look over at the sidebar, you can see that there is information about Mended Little Hearts of Charlottesville. I have been a member for about a year and a half and a co-coordinator for close to a year,  9-10 months or something. Time goes by way too fast for me to remember some things.

Y’all know how important it is for me to raise CHD Awareness, and how much it affects my life. Owain will be having his 3rd, and final surgery in the next 6-7 months, and while it seems like it is so far off, it will be here before I know it.

Mended Little Hearts is extremely important to me, both as a member and as one of the coordinators. I need to be around others who know what it is like to have a child with a Heart Defect. I also feel the need to provide support for others who are just starting their journey, as well as those who have been around the world of CHDs for many years.

Every year, an estimated 40,000 families introduced to Congenital Heart Defects, according to the American Heart Association. Costs for inpatient care for Congenital Heart Defects is close to $3 Billion dollars a year. Many of these families are faced with long and/or repeated hospital stays due to heart surgery or heart related illness. Times like these can be hard for even the strongest of families, our mission is to try and make them a little easier. We do this through inpatient visiting, providing food and care packages, and monthly support meetings. Our monthly meetings provide support, a meal and guest speakers to help Heart Families.

February 7th-14th is CHD Awareness Week around the country. Mended Little Hearts of Charlottesville is having a CHD Awareness Event and Fundraiser on Monday February 7th at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

We are currently collecting items for a silent auction. By donating items for our fundraiser you can help us provide support for families as they begin their journey as a family with a special needs child. Please contact me if you would like to donate an item to be auctioned off during our event.
