The Apple Tree Seedlings Are Still Alive!

It has been a couple of weeks, and they are still alive! The other day two of them started growing their big seedling leaves. There is still one more that hasn’t come out of the seed coat yet, but the other three are growing fast. I had them covered with plastic wrap and I woke up one morning and the tallest one was pushing up against it so I had to take it off. This is where I always seem to kill the trees. When I can’t figure out how dry to let the soil get before watering it without the seedlings getting all wilty from lack of water. The kids also noticed that one of the seedlings has only 2 of the first leaves and the other 2 have 3 of the first leaves. We are guessing that might mean they are at least 2 different kinds of apples. The kids are really getting into this now, and checking them dozens of times a day, filling me in on every last change.

Somehow there is only 3 out of the 4 seedlings in this photo, but believe me, there are 4!
