It wasn’t until yesterday, Valentines Day that I realized that I still have my Christmas tree up! Kinda hard to believe that I forgot that it was still standing there in the corner of the dining room, but it is. It is especially hard to believe because I made of point of declaring that I would not be leaving my Christmas tree up until Valentine’s Day for the second year in a row. Yet there it is, lurking there in the corner, trying to pretend it is not there. All of the decorations are down, and have been for at least a bunch of weeks. So mostly it is a fake evergreen tree hanging out in my dining room. It is mostly there due to a combination of the sickness that took over our house for several weeks, followed by our CHD Awareness event and fundraiser, and then there were a few days of recovery. So when I looked up at my Christmas tree yesterday, and realized that it was Valentine’s Day and the tree was still up, I decided that something needed to be done about it. I moved the tree out into the room, swept around it and crushed it back into the corner and walked away. I had done all I could do. At least until we figure out what to do with it. I think we threw the torn up box away and now we are just trying to figure out how to store it. I wish I had a giant shrink wrap machine.
I think I plan on taking down the Christmas tree this week. And when I say that the tree will NOT be up until Easter this year, I mean it. For realz.
The awesome warm weather we had for a couple of days got me running around the house in full Spring cleaning mode. Even though it is only the middle of February, and it will probably get frigid again before it gets warm and stays warm, I am loving this warm weather. I have had the windows open, and the house feels so fresh and light. We are supposed to get into the mid to high 60’s for the next couple of days! Don’t hate.
In the past couple of days I have gotten the floors steam cleaned, almost got caught up with the laundry, and almost got the kitchen clean. The kitchen is a big one! I had to give the kids tiny baby food spoons to eat their yogurt with. I may or may not have used a baby spoon for my yogurt to. That reminded me that A) I still have baby spoons that I need to get rid of and 2) I am glad I didn’t give them away yet.
This warm weather also makes me want to start planting some seeds for the garden. We didn’t have a veggie garden last year, we were just too busy. There were a few plants that came up on their own, but not enough to count on. I walked around the yard yesterday trying to figure out where we are going to put the gardens this summer. Last year we built the kids a wooden playset, and had to get rid of the big garden to do that.
I finally perfected my Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese today, click on that link to see the recipe and be amazed at its perfection. I suddenly feel like doing a bunch of freezer cooking, I haven’t made breakfast bars since right before Christmas, and it is definitely time to bake up a few batches.
I got a nice green spool of Sugar & Cream cotton yarn to make some washcloths for the bathrooms. We desperately need new washcloths, so hopefully I can get 1-2 made every day for the next week. It is such a pretty green, I am so excited!
I know it is probably the warm weather giving me all of this motivation, I just hope that I can keep it through the weekend! So what projects are you working on this week? Are you organizing or crafting?
My quick afternoon project hasn’t really gone as planned, three days later and…
There is no real entry way into the front of my home, so I am…

TAXES!!!! That’s what I’m doing this week-end! Got through CHD week & my husband informed me that I must do taxes. We filed an extension for 2009 because we built our house in 2009 under our company and there’s ALOT of stuff to figure out…which is company related, which is house related, etc! So, we really can’t file our 2010 until we get 2009 finished! And of course, nothing is organized for 2009, it’s all thrown in a very large drawer 🙁 I am NOT looking forward to this week-end.
But sounds like you have gotten lots accomplished – please ESP me your energy!
