Owee Had an Amazing Turnaround Last Night!

Your prayers have been heard!

Owain was having a difficult time yesterday, but everything started going really bad after his 3pm Xopenex treatement. Instead of helping his breathing, it made it worse. So we stopped giving it to him. He has had Xopenex before, so I don’t know why he had such a bad reaction to it. I don’t know if it was in combination with the steroids and antibiotics he was on or if it was just the Xopenex. Either way, after about 7-8 hours he started doing much better and his O2 started leveling off and stayed in the high 70’s to low 80’s by the middle of the night. Which is where it is at now while he is at rest. When he movies around it drops down quickly, but bounces back more quickly than it did yesterday.

His color is much better today that it was even last night. He is much closer to his normal coloring and not so pale. That yucky, pasty color of gray is pretty much gone.

He ate a little dinner last night and wanted to go for a ride in the wagon. He played in the playroom for a few minutes late last night and then asked to walk back to the room. He slowly walked back and was asleep within a few minutes of settling in. And for the most part he slept well overnight. He didn’t climb all over me, crying and flailing, he tucked in and was happy to get some good rest.

He is still junkie, in his upper airways, his cough still concerns me. But in general he is getting better and not worse. We are still treating this as respiratory issues and I am good with that. We talked with peds cardiology early yesterday evening and they are aware of everything and said to keep treating it as respiratory illness and if he doesn’t get better then to transport him. After we stopped giving him the Xopenex, all of his scary symptoms slowly went away.

He is also still very cranky, but I have been getting a few more smiles mixed in there. Which makes me feel so good to see him smile. He is asking to cuddle with me now, and I have about 1 minute before he throws himself a wicked fit. Once he gets upset, it sticks with him for awhile.

We still haven’t seen his pediatrician this morning, so I don’t really know anything else at this point.

Thanks again for all the prayers, keep them coming.

Great news! The steroids make them behave so strange, hopefully he will continue to improve.
