Thankful Thursday

I can’t believe it is Thursday already! We only took a few days off for the Thanksgiving holiday, but it feels like it was much longer. We have had a hard time getting back into our routine, and homeschool has been a bit of a struggle this week. And that my friends is why we do a few lessons even on the weekends, that way when we have weeks like these, we don’t end up behind like we did last year.

I just got the official head count for family coming to visit for Christmas. Grammy and Grandpa Nut are coming for almost 2 weeks! And Uncle MJ Nut is coming for a few days too!  Hungarian Grandma Nut is staying in the Frozen Tundra for the Holidays to spend them with all of the aunts and uncles and cousins and kiddies. One of these days I will get the whole family down here for the Holidays, but for now I am Thankful that my parents and brother are coming to visit.

I am also Thankful for my parents who so graciously let us borrow money for the mortgage for December. I hate that I had to ask, but I am Thankful that they are able to help us out.

I am trying to be Thankful for all the extra time I am spending alone after I put the kids in bed. I am using this extra time to continue my major home organizing project. I am Thankful for OCD cleaning to try to stay mostly sane.

I made some homemade cinnamon raisin bread with walnuts today for lunch. There is something about warm, sweet bread that is still steaming as you cut it that makes everything better…at least for a few minutes. For the rest of the time I rely on Nutella. Oh-My-Sweetness! I should have put Nutella on my warm cinnamon raisin bread. I guess that is what’s for dinner. I am so Thankful for fresh made bread and that if you ration out Nutella, a large jar goes along way to make a Mama happy!

My neighbor recently let it be known that they were using our garbage can. We might not have even noticed it if it were not for the fact that they tossed a pizza box and an empty 50 pound dog food bag in the can. 1) we have crossed all take-out off our budget list and B) we don’t have any pets. So I am Thankful for the Stupidity of neighbors who think we are not going to notice, because that has finally pushed me over the edge and I have canceled our garbage service. It is like money in my pocket! Thank You neighbor for saving me money.

As always, I am Thankful for my happy, healthy, wild little beasties that run around my house all day long driving me crazy, I am Thankful that we still have a roof over our heads and for our wonderfully supportive group of friends and family and all the ways they help us.

So what are you Thankful for today? It is so easy to join in and tell everyone.

Here is how Thankful Thursdays works:

1. Post your Thankful Thoughts on your blog. Somewhere in your post please mention The Nut House and/or ourhappynuthouse.com so that your friends, family and visitors know where to find other Thankful Thoughts. You can also grab my Thankful Thursdays banner and link to that. Once you have done that you can come back here and add your post to MckLinky.

Not everyone has a blog, so:

2. If you don’t have a blog, you can leave a Thankful Thoughts comment in the comment section.

3. You can show your Thankful Thoughts any way you like, as a list, a story, a vlog, as one word, one sentence or just a picture.
