Full Basement Makeover Part 3 – Our DIY Home Remodel on a Budget

The contractors have been here a few times. First they cut away the concrete around the exterior walls, in my video below you can see some water coming in. There is water pooling along most of the wall where they are working, none of that water was properly draining or making it to the sump pump. They added the drain pipe with clean outs around the perimeter, and roughed in the plumbing for the new bathroom. I am SO excited to have a second bathroom. The last house we rented before purchasing this house last year only had one bath room, and we have spent the last 6 years struggling to get through our mornings with only one. The contractors added gravel, and the membrane up around the walls, and they also moved the drain pipe for the sump pump and attached it to the wall so it’s not taking up so much space along the ceiling. The way the drain was hanging from the ceiling before took up too much space, and it wasn’t real secure so it vibrated and made a lot of noise when ever the sump pump went off. They will be back this week to add the concrete and new sump pump. After that we will be ready to start working on turning the basement into livable space. They are not even done yet and there is already a huge difference in the way the basement feels. We are so excited to move forward this this redo.
